About

As a student, I had a very difficult time in school and was later diagnosed with ADHD. I developed the necessary study habits and practices to help me succeed in college despite my shortcomings. With these things in mind, I try to teach my students how to be a good learners and help them see how little study habits add up over the semester.

I enjoy working with my students and getting to know what they want out of their life: their hopes, dreams, fears, and regrets. I try to encourage my students that learning is how you end up where you want to be doing what you want to be doing while avoiding those fears and regrets. I genuinely believe that "knowledge is power."

Frequently asked questions

In the first session, I always take the time to get to know my students and see if I think we can work together. I'll give them a diagnostic test to get an idea of their knowledge of the subject beforehand and their strengths and weaknesses.

I majored in political science, where a background knowledge of history is vital. I've learned how to incorporate quantitative and qualitative information to describe the world we live in.

The starting rate is $50/hr, although I don't charge for the first session. Additional fees (last-minute cancellation, significant traveling, or help with other subjects/college admissions) will be applied and notified ahead of time.

My mom is an elementary teacher, so it runs in the family! I started to tutor in college and have continued to do it on the side because it's amazing seeing my students grow academically and personally.

I've worked with students of different cultural backgrounds and students with learning difficulties, which I experienced in my years as a student.

I recently started teaching myself how to learn the guitar; I love learning new things and music is a major passion of mine.

Ask them questions, request a sample lesson, and ask yourself, "Am I confident this teacher can help me?" and trust your gut.

When do you have fun learning something new? What study skills do I practice, and how effective is it? Do I feel confident in my ability to learn? Why or Why not?
