About
I have over 25 years of experience working with all age groups from 4th grade to 80 years old. I am a great people-person, both friendly and focused, and will be committed to both your satisfaction and growth. I am detail oriented, clear speaking, and enjoy a variety of hobbies. We're bound to have at least one interest in common--which can be a great first step to establishing a friendly working rapport.
For nearly 3 decades, I've worked hard to help my 4th and 5th graders excel at math, be they neurotypical or special needs, math-reluctant or math lovers.
I adore science! Whether it's the periodic table or the theory of evolution, weathering or magnetism, I'm your fired-up science nerd! As I type this, I have praying mantids hatching from 3 different oothecae, 2 baby alligator lizards in the classroom, and 4 snakes who accompany me to school regularly.
I started learning French as a teenager. My journey mastering the language, living in France and becoming a French citizen yielded invaluable insights I am able to couple with my 3 decades of teaching experience. I have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by newcomers to the French language -- and how to vanquish them.
I am a great people-person, both friendly and focused, and will be committed to both your satisfaction and growth. I love helping students of all ages achieve their goals. Helping you understand new or challenging ideas is one of my greatest thrills! As my student reviews will attest, you'll be glad you found me.

Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Though a Los Angeles native, I went to school in France, minored in French for my degree from Cal Berkeley, and am a naturalized French citizen.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Typically I charge $48 per hour for online meetings.
I adjust pricing, either up or down, depending on your specific needs, the session length you desire, and the potential addition of 1 or 2 friends who participate with you.
How did you get started teaching?
From a young age I was told I have a knack for helping make difficult concepts easier to understand. To this day, it is one of my favorite ways of helping people.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with people ranging from ages 9 to 80. My students have been in the categories of "typical" learner, learning-challenged, and emotionally disturbed.
In addition to general education, I've tutored students in computer usage, French, drumming and racquetball.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the prospective tutor isn't just a skilled French SPEAKER! While fluency and a great accent are important, what's more critical is the knack for demystifying some of its trickier concepts. You also want to be sure that you have a good rapport with your tutor; that's why I like to chat for 10-15 minutes about your goals and needs before scheduling our first session.
