About

Bonjour! I have been teaching French (all levels including AP) for eight years, and I have tutored French on the side as well. I have a B.A. in French from Clark University. In my sessions, I create individualized lessons and practice depending on the student’s need and interests. We can improve our conversational skills, prep for school / tests, work on grammar, read a book to facilitate language acquisition, or whatever else the student needs or would like to learn. Please let me know what other questions you have. I offer sessions via Zoom and Google Meet. Let me know if you have questions!

Learning a language should be individualized, engaging and fun. Learning a language promotes cultural empathy, opens doors for the learner, and enriches the life of the student.

My daughter was excited to take a new language in high school, but despite her interest in French, she was really struggling with grammar and pronunciation. It was disheartening to see so dispirited 🙁 With Rachels help, I have seen such a big turnaround. Rachel has provided kind support to help her confidence grow! The lessons are fun, with the use of songs and videos that help her connect with French culture. Shes now talking about continuing her studies in college, and even studying abroad in France. We cant thank Rachel enough!

Rachel is an excellent tutor as well as classroom teacher. Having observed her in the classroom, I witnessed how masterfully she implements differentiation to cater to all students interests, multiple intelligences and levels. Students feel at ease in her presence, and she values the importance of social emotional learning to put learners at ease so they can acquire the language in a low pressure environment. Rachel implements innovative methods such as the comprehensible input methodology to engage students and get them speaking in French right away! I highly recommend Rachel to learners of all levels and ages.

I have worked primarily with middle and high school students, in particular high school 9th and 10th graders (age range 13 - 16), and have worked with adults as well.

Ask many questions in order to find the right fit! Find a teacher with whom you feel comfortable and can make a connection.

    - What are the ways in which I learn best? Are there methods / ways I haven't tried before that I'm interested in / want to ask the instructor about?

    - What do I need help with?

    - What are my strengths and what are my challenge / growth areas?

    - What do I enjoy (in education and in general)?

    - How does that which I'm learning and skill-building for fit into my life? Essentially: why am I doing this? What will give me the determination and discipline to learn?

    - What questions might the instructor have for me?
