About
Hi, y'all! Ni Hao! I was born in Canada, raised in Hong Kong and I live in Los Angeles. I speak, read, and write Chinese and Cantonese fluently. I've been teaching Chinese for 5 years now. I am an actress and singer, and I love cooperating MUSIC & ART while teaching. I also tailor the course to my students according to their level and goal, to make sure we are both on the same page when we begin. Can't wait to have some Chinese fun with you! :)

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First of all, I would have a trial lesson(meet and greet) with them to see what level my new students are at and see if we are a good match.
Secondly, I would start with the Pinyin - initial consonants & finals or compound vowels. Once they are familiar with the basics, we will move on to the next step.
Then, we will look into numbers, introductions, basic conversations, body parts, etc. We can adjust the course according to the interest and level my students are on.
And I love adding some music and art elements in the process of learning Chinese, I believe this helps students to understand and also enhance their interest.
How did you get started teaching?
I started as a drama teacher 6 years ago before I moved to Los Angeles. I have always enjoyed teaching, and when I came to LA, I met a lot of people who are interested in learning Chinese. So I started with teaching my friends and they introduced me to their friends and eventually, I got introduced to some moms. Therefore, I've taught from the age of 2 to 45. I love all my students!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught toddlers, teens, and adults.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I taught a Russian actress to perform a piece in Chinese for an audition. She came to me without any Chinese learning background, and after 5 intense classes, she was able to deliver the monologue and she got the part! I'm very proud of her! :)
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
- What is your goal? (Business purpose? For fun? For school? To be able to speak to someone you love&care?)
- How much time are you willing to commit? (After class practices are crucial!)
- Are you willing to have an open heart? (Learning a new language is very hard in the beginning, especially as a grown-up, we have to get out of our comfort zone and embrace all the possibilities.)
