About
Standards based and/or customized to student emergent learning, we will discover your best individualized learning plan and methods and try them on. Learning by doing, I believe everyone enjoys making, so am an Arts Integrator to whatever you want to learn. Let's make something. It will mean more, build skills, increase joy and pride and maybe lead the way to greater things.
I have learned to enjoy teaching virtually through this pandemic, translating much of my own Art program digitally as well as designing and curating materials tailored to the student.
My experience and strengths as a visual experiential learner and educator, have shown me that Arts Integration works best. Make it; Act it; Sing it; Dance and move, inspired by your topic. I guide you through the Arts Integration of your topic or message or subject, to learn by doing. Connecting with what matters to you, your work will feel like play. Then you're in your zone. Game on! Join Team Tiger as I join you if you let me.
I began as an artist and graphic designer which is now recognized as all good thinking in design strategies. How we learn is central to my motivation to serve others best, always interacting between you, your needs and wants and the standards or goals you or we have.
I have a BFA in Graphic Design from Carnegie-Mellon University and teaching credentials from California Lutheran University. I have taught as full time faculty for prestigious private schools when I began without a credential, teaching Art, to public schools after obtaining my credentials. I have been Art faculty full time for 7 years in both private and public, serving all ages preK-12. My multiple subject credential has offered years of part time teaching in public schools across LA County for many years while raising my family. I maintain substitute activity with Santa Monica Malibu USD and Beverly Hills. I worked in my own neighborhood schools of Burbank full to part time through raising my children there, enjoying knowing my community and even getting to be their teacher some days. I enjoy knowing families and having familiarity from working with young people, guiding good faith and habits for them to succeed personally and professionally, individually and cooperatively.
I am open to working with adults, especially if interested in Art.
I think a better analogy for the teacher is more like a coach who works with the individual through the sport; skill building, applying to social emotional and cognitive skills and learning, engaging mind, body and spirit. With the will to win, or learn; the trust, respect and care for the teacher and subject, anything is possible.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Build a good rapport through dialogue, making something together, or viewing something together; so creating a shared experience right away. Asking directly about likes, dislikes, areas of pride, dreams, goals, expectations. Then designing their individualized learning plan and doing it.
