About

I absolutely love reading, but I didn't always enjoy it as much as I do now. Growing up I always equated reading a book with an obligation or an expectation from others and while I knew how to read I always felt as though I couldn't read as fast as my peers. As a child I could think of a handful of other ways I would rather pass my time and it wasn't until years later while in college that I realized how much I enjoyed reading books. Reading, as I came to understand, gives back you: not only does it allow you to immerse yourself into a narrative but it also prompts you to tap into your imagination. My favorite gift that reading offers, though is that you always learn new words, expanding your vocabulary, and it almost always teaches you at least one new thing (even if it's subtle).

i have a bachelor's degree in art history with a minor in French. I worked in the art world for six years, yet I decided to switch gears after coordinating a free summer art/art history course for at-risk youth. I have since (for the past four years) taught after-school enrichment classes, a nanny for children of various ages, as well as working as a k-6 grade turtle for language arts, writing, reading comprehension, and some math.
