Growing up with both parents as teachers, I've always known education the importance of education and found fulfillment in helping others learn. I started working as a tutor in high school and have worked with students since. I have completed a BA in Art History, a BFA in Drawing/Painting, and have TEFL and CBEST teaching certifications. I am now completing post-undergraduate prerequisites and applying to medical school. I have cross disciplinary knowledge that makes it so I can explain complex topics in ways that many student learning types can understand.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first connect with the student's specific struggles and find the root of them: when and where in the material their confusion began. This helps find a jumping off point. I pose questions to help students view topics in different ways, because I believe that assisting a student in assembling their own idea and wording of a concept is longer lasting and more impactful than dictation.
I utilize and teach study skills, note taking methods and memorization techniques based on each individual student's struggles and goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked in various school levels giving cross-disciplinary help from essay revisions all the way to explosive science demonstrations. I also worked in an orphanage based in Mexico, a group home for "at-risk" student scholars, and as a teaching assistant at both high school and college levels. I currently work in a community college biology lab as a student lab tech, assisting in the development, refinement and set up of educational experiments.
