Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Primarily I like to meet the student first, and get a feel for what their skill set is. I then evaluate what areas we need to focus on for a foundation and build from there. I set up a program that allows them to grow every time we meet, and give them assignments to work on in betwee lessons. I provide them with resources as well, along with personalized lessons they can record and save to practice with.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied musical theater in college inculding singng, dancing, and acting in a conservatory setting, fully emersing myself in my studies. I am well versed in music theory, voice, piano, sight singing, several different acting techniques, and more. Professionally I practice all of this acting on camera, recording music, and my past experience on broadway. Beyond my artist abilities I also am good with basical subject matter.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
At the moment, I am taking it on a case by case basis. I am happy to work with families and their needs.
How did you get started teaching?
I am the oldest of fourteen cousins, and have been a performer my entire life. I had friends and cousins ask me if I could teach them how to sing, dance, act, and I started to develop a client base from there. My techniques worked, and they saw imporvements.
What types of students have you worked with?
Ages from 8 years old to 40 years old. Mainly clients in the New York, or Los Angeles area.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am a fan of live performance. one of the past events I really enjoyed was the Oscar awards. I love reflecting on movies from the past year, and setting goals for the year to come. It is a good way to see people at the top of their game, displaying art at such a fabulous platform. I find it very inspiring.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher who listens to you, and can help you build a strong foundation. From there you will be able to build and grow in whichever way you chose.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are my goals? What am I passionate about? Who are my role models? How much time am I willing to dedicate to my studies?
