Tutoring With Creativity
About
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my page. My name is Natasha Stirling and I have taught elementary school age students for sixteen years. After the recession occured in 2009, I began to tutor as a means to continue my passion of helping kids succeed in school. My approach is a very hands-on engaging manner to where my focus is to ensure that the students are connceting to the concept or skill that they need additional support in. I understand that not each child learns in the same manner, therefore it is always my priortiy to create fun activities that will promote life long learning for your child.
I began teaching toddlers, to teaching science for a private school, followed by entering into the public school districts. I currently substitute for Newport-Mesa and Downey Unified and I also tutor students in the Long Beach area. Currently I possess a multiple subject teaching credential as well as being NCLB compliant.
With my experience and excitment, I am confident that your child will develop their own passion for learning as well.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I work with a new student, I begin by completing a fun "All About Me" activity page. It is a great ice-breaker and it allows for myself and the student to get to know one another. My next approach is to communicate with the parent prior to tutoring to determine what the learning concern is that I can provide for their child. Therefore, I assess the student on the first session to better understand what level and skills the student is able to demonstrate. This assessment is vital for me to ensure that the tutoring activities I am providing are challenging but never frustrsting for the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended San Diego State Univierty with an emphais in Education. After spending years in the preschool and private elementary school environment I pursued my teaching career by earning a Multiple Subject Teaching Credntial. Currently I am an active substitute for numerous districts and I conduct on-line tutoring.
