Mandarin Chinese Tutor With Master’s Degree And 7 Years Of Experience
About
I'm a native Chinese speaker who is always enthusiasm for Chinese language. I gained Master's Degree in Nanjing University— a university ranked top 10 in China. Years of study has built solid foundation for me.
Furthermore I have abundant experience of teaching. I have taught students of diverse levels-- from beginners and elementary ones to college students and adults, whose ages ranged from 5 to 60. Each of my students enjoyed studying with me. Along my teaching, I kept learning new knowledge and skills. That was the way I kept my lessons valuable.
I began to tutor international students in Chinese during my graduate studies. Busy as I was, I managed to handle study and tutor work efficiently. Coming from other countries of Asia, America and Europe, my students had diverse cultures and languages, different hobbies and personalities. I cherished such experience because not only did I teach them, also I learnt from them. I learnt how different native languages influenced their learning of Chinese; I learnt to accommodate their different cultural backgrounds and needs.
During employment as an editor after graduation, I gained Teaching Certificate and Spoken Chinese Certificate. Besides edit, I gave lessons to students on writing. Writing was one of my favorites, and teaching writing has greatly benefited me in thinking out of the box.
Afterwards I worked as a teacher at Torrance Chinese School in LA. Based on my experience, I have developed a methodology of teaching young beginners—
To arouse their interest, I inserted drawing, role-playing and games amid lessons. To help them boost self confidence, I explained Chinese words bilingually and then decreased English as they made progress. To broaden their horizons, I combined historical and cultural stories with language learning. With all these features, my lessons became great enjoyment to students.
I stress the importance of bases, yet encourage imagination and creation. I am strict yet patient and considerate. I'm here to help you improve your Chinese! Contact me and enjoy learning Chinese with me!
