I am a certified English teacher in the Sweetwater School District. I am passionate about working with middle and high school-aged students to improve their writing, reading, and comprehension skills to create and build practical and valuable skills.
I enjoy the aspect of building confidence in students by strengthening their skills. I also enjoy seeing students succeed in subjects/projects they previously had trouble with.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Upon meeting with a new student, I typically like to evaluate their current abilities by reading/reviewing a previous essay or assignment with them beforehand. If the new student is working on reading comprehension, I would provide them with a short story to read, as well as several comprehension questions to answer so that I can see where their abilities are at. Upon evaluating what a student already knows/ what they are struggling with, I will ask for copies of current/upcoming work or a definition of goals so that we may move forward in improvement of skills.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I majored in and received a bachelor's degree in English with an emphasis in literature as well as a creative writing certificate. I also went through the credential program at SDSU to be credentialed to teach English to grades 6-12.
