Kian Math Tutoring
About
I have a strong foundation in math, science, and programming, complemented by hands-on teaching experience. Throughout my education, I have tutored and mentored fellow students in mathematics, science (including physics and chemistry), and English, where I focused on building their conceptual understanding and boosting their confidence in these subjects. I ensure that each tutoring session is tailored to the student's learning style, whether through step-by-step explanations, problem-solving techniques, or visual aids. My goal is to break down complex topics into manageable pieces, making learning engaging and approachable.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA, where I gained expertise in mathematics, physics, computer programming, and problem-solving. I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Data Science at UC San Diego, where I am further developing my skills in data analytics, machine learning, and statistics. My academic background gives me the ability to explain topics like algebra, calculus, physics, and computer science in a clear and practical way.
My teaching methodology focuses on fostering curiosity and a deep understanding of the material. I like to use real-world examples to show how math and science principles apply to everyday life, making the subjects more relatable and less intimidating. By encouraging students to ask questions and think critically, I aim to not only help them with immediate academic challenges but also build skills that will serve them well in their future studies and careers.
Whether students need help in foundational subjects like algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, or more advanced topics like calculus, physics, and programming, I offer a structured and patient approach to ensure their success.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would first get to know the students and then go over a quick lesson plan before asking them if they had any questions. Then assigning them appropriate problems to tackle the kind of questions they are struggling with since practice is the most efficient way of learning from your mistakes.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have never taught students before.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
20 dollars an hour per lesson.
