YES-FLEX Prep

The Writing Center is founded on the principle that reading and writing skills are fundamental to education.

Most of the courses offered at the Writing Center are designed to train the student in a specific set of skills and/or essay type. All courses are lecture-based: that is, run like a classroom rather than a tutorial. However, all classes provide personalized feedback.

Our course sequence spans from the basic elements of writing (vocabulary, grammar, etc.) to college-level essays. Our students are welcome to customize the sequence to fit their needs. The more advanced classes, however, assume a certain mastery of rudimentary techniques. Those students who would like to solidify their understanding of the rudiments of writing are advised to begin in one of the “Elements” classes.

Whatever the course, our goal here at the YES-FLEX Writing Center is to make students better communicators, to foster self-expression and articulation, and to make the learning experience an enjoyable one.
