Madi’s Tutoring
About
Hi! My name is Madi, I'm a high school student enrolled at an art school. I'm a pianist, artist, storyteller, and reader, but a writer above all else. I've been writing for about five years now, and I am mostly interested in fiction writing, short stories, and poetry, though I also love a good MLA-format essay. I've also taken piano lessons for about 9 years, and I have experience in everything from baroque counterpoint to Zelda theme music. I'm here to help with whatever you need. Hopefully we can work together to find your voice, too!
I love creating something that can immerse anyone, young or old, into a world of my own devising.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It depends on the client! Whatever you need my help with, I'm happy to work through with you. I think it's really important that the student knows how to tap into their own heart and their own voice, so I would probably start there if they need it, but every student is different.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I currently attend a specialized arts high school, where I am studying in the Creative Writing conservatory. I had to apply for my position and be selected out of all of the other submissions. The application process included sending in a couple pieces of my own writing and an in-person interview. I've also studied under multiple piano teachers with different styles throughout my life, and I have experience performing in front of an audience as well.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
It depends on what the client is asking for, though I will do my best to keep my prices low and as accurate as possible. I am also always willing to discuss pricing if the client needs it adjusted.
How did you get started teaching?
One of my friends recommended this website to me, and I thought I'd check it out. Before that, however, I loved proofreading and helping my friends with their essays, poems, and stories, and they would often come to me for help with anything writing-related. I would also insist on teaching piano to anyone that seemed interested, and it's always been fun to watch my friends slowly learn a piece or two.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently I got to share a poem of mine at my first open mic night at my high school. The event was a blast to participate in, I loved listening to the stories of my peers and appreciated their kind feedback on my own. My poem was very well recieved and it felt good to be acclaimed by other students I respect so much.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise them to pick someone who they agree with, generally, and who knows what they're talking about, becasue there are so many opinions and "rules" regarding writing that change from person to person, so it's really important the teacher and student are on the same page.
