About

Hello, everyone! The beginning of my tutoring experience actually dates back to my freshman year of high school. Over the next two to three years, I continued to provide one-on-one tutoring and homework assistance services during my spare time, primarily to upper elementary and middle school students, but occasionally to high school underclassmen as well.

Having always excelled in English and writing (my my score on the writing/grammar section of the SAT placed me in the 99th percentile), I have helped many of my previous students with vocabulary, grammar, literary analysis, and a variety of written compositions (e.g., expository essays, creative short stories, persuasive essays, research reports). I am also a self-proclaimed grammar enthusiast. This is a bit embarrassing. but I regularly research grammar rules to ensure I am up-to-date—and, don't judge me, but I do this for fun....

I have been fascinated by the underlying mechanisms of human behavior for as long as I can remember. I enrolled in my first college psychology course during high school, and after that, I was hooked. I eventually obtained my B.A. in Psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), so I am well-versed in a wide array of psychological branches, such as:

-Social Psychology

-Developmental Psychology

-Biopsychology

-Asian American Personality and Mental Health

-Adolescent Development

-Neuroscience of Social Perception

I kept all of my notes from these courses, too, which should serve as an excellent resource for anyone seeking tutoring in psychology!

I create personalized lesson plans and even prepare my own supplementary materials to best accommodate the unique needs of each student. I wholeheartedly disapprove of the "one size fits all" instruction model—every student has his or her own preferred learning style(s). Therefore, I try to vary my teaching methods accordingly.

I have about 2 to 3 years of combined experience providing one-on-one English tutoring and homework assistance services. I've helped my previous students improve their English speaking, vocabulary, grammar, writing, comprehension, and overall fluency. I am also able to help you prepare for exams such as the IELTS and SAT. (My writing score on the latter placed me in the 99th percentile.)

As a tutor, I am always prepared, patient, and dedicated to the success of each student. I create personalized lesson plans to best accommodate the unique needs of each student. I wholeheartedly disapprove of the "one size fits all" instruction model—each student has his or her own preferred learning style(s), learning speed, and learning needs. I believe that differentiated instruction is an integral part of maximizing students' learning capacities. Therefore, I try to adjust my teaching methods accordingly.

If you're looking to further your English skills or expand your Psychology knowledge, please do not hesitate to contact me! I look forward to speaking with you soon!

By the way, I am thrilled that tutoring services have become so much more accessible in today's digital era. (Where were they when I first started tutoring?!) Anyways, I look forward to bringing my skills and experience to an online platform!

I needed help with an English exam and I could not have asked for a better tutor! Sabina was extremely patient, thorough, and explained everything I was struggling with in a way that was easy to understand! She’s not only knowledgeable and prepared (she prepared study materials beforehand that she thought would help me) but she’s also super sweet and seemed to genuinely care about my success and that I understood every concept thoroughly, instead of just glazing over them. I was struggling pretty hard before our tutoring session, and I honestly felt pretty hopeless about my exam, even though I had been studying for it for days. But within the 1 hour session with Sabina somehow everything made sense! I was praying I would just pass the exam but after my tutoring session with her I actually got an A!!!! I highly recommend Sabina for any student! She even teaches better than my professors!

    Frequently asked questions

Before we even meet, I ask the student detailed questions about the tasks or assignments they need assistance with. I also like to ask if there are any specific concepts or skills that they are struggling with. For example, if a student requests a tutor for an essay, I would, of course, inquire about the essay topic and whether the student is struggling with grammar, vocabular, analysis, structure, formatting, thesis, supporting arguments, etc.

Once I have acquired enough information, I can develop a personalized lesson plan to best accommodate the unique needs of each student. I also prepare supplementary materials, if need be; a student struggling with grammatical consistency on an essay-writing assignment might require additional worksheets and such (which I would prepare, of course) to establish a stronger foundation before jumping straight into the essay. I wholeheartedly disapprove of the "one size fits all" instruction model—every student has his or her own preferred learning style(s). Therefore, I try to vary my teaching methods accordingly.
