About
I have been tutoring biology for 5 years now. Currently I am helping students with AP biology and chemistry both privately and through various academies. I am very confident in my teaching skills as my students have shown subject proficiency through their grades in school and on AP/SAT exams. I do not promote mindless memorization, but emphasize thorough concept understanding with the help of my worksheets, study guides and visual aids so that students can really utilize their knowledge. With my experience and passionate teaching style, I believe that I am a good fit and can meet your expectations.
• Received 5s on AP Biology, AP Chemistry
• Detailed, condensed study guides to help you ace your class!
• Fun and friendly. Not your typical strict, boring teacher.
For tutors, the most rewarding experience is when students have the "a-ha!" moment. When you got a good score on your exam, I'm genuinely happy for your good work as well!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Are you preparing for an exam? Do you need new approaches to help to learn certain concepts? Let's have a brief chat and we will start from there. :)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an enthusiastic and responsible graduate from University of California, San Diego. After graduating a quarter early from college, I worked as a full-time teacher at a Mandarin Chinese Immersion School until the end of August. I am familiar with teaching in a classroom, group setting, as well as having one-on-one tutoring sessions. I have ample experience with AP and SAT tests. I’ve taken AP Biology (Score: 5), AP Chinese (5), AP Chemistry (5), AP Psychology (4), and AP Environmental Science (4). I feel the most confident and comfortable with science courses, which is why I think I’ll be a perfect candidate for your needs. While I can provide tutoring for high school and college students, I am also very experienced in teaching younger children, particularly pre-school and elementary kids, with the experience I have gained from my previous job.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My rate is 50/hr for personal tutoring, in-home or online. (I promise it's worth it!)
How did you get started teaching?
Learning is fun. We never cease to learn in life. However, learning under pressure, with all of the homework, exams, and grades to stress about, it can be not so fun. When I was going through middle school, I went to a Chinese cram school and met Mr. Yang, my chemistry mentor. His lessons were packed with information, but his lecturing style is fun and engaging. That's why I believe I went into high school loving the science courses, and decided to pursue a degree in biology when I applied for college. Sometimes a teacher's teaching style can really influence the student's interest and ability to learn the subject, and I hope by delivering knowledge in an intriguing way, I'm able to help the students build solid, concrete fundamental knowledge. But more importantly, engage them and let them enjoy the learning process, because I believe that is the best and most effective method of learning.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mostly students from grade 7-12.
