About
Hello! My name is Nate Yang, and I’m a graduate student based in Los Angeles on the path to medical school.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Management, & Technology with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Florida in May 2024. Shortly after graduating, I felt a strong calling to shift directions and pursue a career in medicine. Since then, I’ve immersed myself in the sciences, excelling in courses such as Microbiology, General Chemistry I & II, Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Nutrition and Health, and Developmental Psychology—earning a 4.0 GPA thus far.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to break down complex scientific concepts into simple, digestible pieces that actually stick. I use a range of evidence-based learning strategies, including:
1. Visualization techniques to help students grasp abstract concepts like electron configuration or metabolic pathways
2. Analogies that turn challenging material into relatable ideas (e.g. comparing intermolecular forces to different types of handshakes)
3. Active recall and spaced repetition to boost retention of key formulas, definitions, and reaction mechanisms
4. Customized diagrams and concept maps to reinforce connections between topics
5. Storytelling methods to help anchor difficult material in memory by putting it into context
In addition to my academic experience, I have a genuine passion for teaching and mentorship. I specialize in the hard sciences, particularly Chemistry, and my goal is not just to help you pass a class—but to help you build confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning.
If you’re looking for a tutor who can make science feel approachable, engaging, and even fun, I’d love to work with you!
