About

I earned a Bachelors degree in Business administration with a concentration in Accounting from California State University, San Bernardino and I also have a Masters' degree in the aforementioned concentration.

I have tutored math since my senior year of High School in 2005 and passed the AP Calculus exam in 2006. I have experience tutoring math concepts like linear expressions, systems of equations, exponents, logarithms, radical expressions, perimeter, area and surface area of geometric figures, coordinate geometry, trigonometry, Pythagorean theorem and other math concepts in Arithmetic, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry.

I tutor concepts in accounting like the accounting equation, T-accounts, journal entries, ledger postings, financial statement preparation, cash flows to inventory valuation (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average & Specific Identification), receivables/payables, bank reconciliation, asset acquisition and depreciation, bank reconciliation, and stock holder equity amongst others.

I have tutored people of several demographics and several needs (test prep, getting ahead in class, and homework help). I make it a point of responsibility to provide progress reports to parents of minors who receive tutoring from me so that they can adequately gauge the needs of their student. I also volunteered for 2 years as a tutor with the County of San Bernardino library system and I have been running a tutorial service since 2015.

I used to struggle with math when I went through school. I had tutors and I labored to understand math concepts especially in geometry. Seeing that I could turn that challenge around always gives me hope that I can help another person turn around their academic challenges (whether in math or accounting) and become masters over their deficiencies.

Frequently asked questions

When I work with a new student, I first try to guage what the students background is concerning the subject matter I'm trying to teach i.e. I try gaining an understanding of the student's historical ease or challenge with the subject matter. If the student has historically been challenged, I'll try to revisit old concepts in order to lay a solid foundation before diving in to newer concepts. If the student has not struggled historically, but is just being challenged by a new concept, i'll try to explain the methodology of and rationale for the new concept with the student. I'll also assign learning reinforcement exercises after teaching the student so that extra practice can enhance tutorials.

I have been a math tutor since 2005 and I also have tutored financial and managerial accounting since July 2017. I earned a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from California State University, San Bernardino with a concentration in Accounting. I also earned a Masters degree in the aforementioned cocentration.

I began tutoring in high school. I have tutored elementary math, ASVAB math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. I have tutored people of several demographics and several needs (test prep, getting ahead in class, and homework help). I make it a point of responsibility to provide progress reports to parents of minors who receive tutoring from me so that they can adequately gauge the needs of their student. I volunteered for 2 years as a tutor with the County of San Bernardino library system and I have been running a tutorial service since 2015.

I usually charge $27/hr when tutoring individuals who are in the 1st to 12th grade levels. I charge $32/hr when assisting individuals at the college level. When I have to tutor two or more individuals in the 1st to 12th grade levels, I charge a group rate of $30/hr.

I began teaching/tutoring during my Junior year of high school after I was informed by my Pre-Calculus teacher that I could tutor and give back to the high school community. I was surprised at the rate of success achieved by students at and below my grade level who I tutored. I continued tutoring till i left high school and even into my college days with the County Library. I tutored math up to my graduation from college, and began tutoring accounting in addition afer receiving a Masters degree.

I have worked with students in elementary school, middle school, high school, college and grad school. I have also worked with students preparing the take the  ASVAB as part of joining the armed services. I have learned to meet the needs of younger students as well as older students from all forms of socio-economic backgrounds.

For students looking to hire a math and accounting tutor, I would advice that they stay patient with the tutor due to the fact that math and accounting require a lot of expalained steps and principles. Students must try as much as possible to remian tuned in to lessons. Also, I would recommend that students ask the tutor to re-explain steps not understood during a lesson so that no knowledge is lost.

One thing I have found throughout my years of tutoring math and accounting is that students give up easily after becoming challenged by concepts. I would recommend that students ask themselves if they have looked through examples in the text book before becoming defeated or approaching a teacher or tutor. If students ask this question of themselves, it can help boost confidence as they face challenges with their coursework.
