About
At this time since 2020, I do tutoring on line with kids after work that need help in either math or language arts. I only tutor kids from k-6 grade that have difficulties grasping or retaining information in either subjects to help them move on to the next level on their academic education.
I feel satisfied once the parents begin telling me that their child is successful in school or that their grades have improved. I love when kids feel confident enough to be independent to do work on their own and can explain procedures in their own way. I get really happy when I ask the student / child to explain the concept(s) to me of what they learned. I tutor kids using the standard way or using the common core method. I want students to know that it takes time to get good at something by focusing on techniques that can be used moving foreward. It is a satisfying feeling for me that I've been able to explain to them in depth what they could not grasp before.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually like to meet with the student prior to working with them to get to know what areas a student is struggling with. I also like to meet one of the parents to let them know the rules of services and to put them at ease with whatever questions they might have.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been working for the school district since October of 1999. I work with small groups and 1:1 academic instruction.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I usually charge $25-30 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I started volunteering at my kid's school when they were younger and I really enjoyed the environment and applied for a position as a paraeducator.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students from kids with learning difficulties and students that have IEP'S.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I just had a student that graduated from elementary school and the parent got a hold of me to let me know, that her child had made the honor roll in middle school! I enjoy working with kids that put the effort to learn and that show academic improvement in all areas.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
How long they have been tutoring and what is the success rate.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The first question would be to see if they are using the grade standards or if they are using the common core instructional methodology
