Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first and most important aspect of working with a student is building a rapport, and finding out their interest, which I can use in helping them understand the material. I would like to meet with the parents as well to find out where their child is having the hardest time. Also create some short term and long term goals. The goals depend on the needs of the student.
How did you get started teaching?
I was working in Mental Health with adolescents. One of the nurses I worked with told me I would be good at teaching because of my patience. I then switched my major to general studies. I always wanted to help youth. I figured it's better to help them before they are in the hospital or the juvenille hall system.
