Tutoring With Maddie
About
Hello!
To quickly introduce myself, I am Maddie Berg and I am a senior at a school based in Clovis, Ca. I love choir and theater and have been in many advanced placement classes within the past few years at being at CEHS.
You may be wondering why I'm qualified to help tutor your student(s), and I would love to help answer this question!
I am in a course this year that will allow me to work in an elementary classroom alongside a teacher to learn how to teach kids! I am so grateful for this opportunity and I plan on using it to my full advantage. During my junior year, I took a class titled, "Contemporary Issues in Education" to gain a better understanding of how different issues present within the education system affect the lives of students, teachers, and administrators. This class helped me to realize that I want to be a teacher when I get older, and it taught me many valuable lessons on how to approach teaching children (eg. I learned how to create a lesson plan in this class).
Additionally, I have taken five honors courses throughout my high school career, and 3 AP (Advanced Placement) classes. With all of these classes, I maintained A's, with the rare occasion of getting a B. I currently am taking 2 additional AP classes, alongside the aforementioned education class. Lastly, I am getting the opportunity this year to work with my choir director to help conduct some music in one of our ensembles. This is an amazing option that I had, and it has helped me to work with peers to be able to understand my teaching style, and how I can improve.
Lastly, I am currently a gymnastics coach. You may be thinking that this has nothing to do with tutoring and I would strongly disagree! As a gymnastics coach, I am constantly working with groups of kids to be able to teach them new skills weekly. This has provided me with the ability to understand how to teach kids in a way that they can understand and grow from. Being a coach has taught me so much about working with kids, but has also helped me to improve my techniques in teaching little ones.
