Alyssa Flexible Tutor
About
Hello, I am a private tutor who has worked around the world. I have experience with teaching English as a second language primarily, but have helped teach for SAT prep and just as a general tutor to help give additional support to students who need it. I am also very familiar with the IB curriculum and can give guidance and advice to those in the IB program.
I am super flexible and am willing to work with my students' needs and learning styles. I love seeing my students improve, hope we can work together soon!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to start with an initial meeting where we can set goals for working together. I usually ask these three general questions
What do you feel you want to improve the most?
Do you like studying?
What are you best at (in school, in English, etc.)?
From there I use follow-up questions to get a better understanding of my students. From there we work together to come up with a tailored plan to accomplish their goals.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard pricing depends on the student's age and needs but generally, I start at $25 per hour for online courses, and $35 for in-person lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I actually lived in South Korea while I was in high school. While I was there I had a lot of opportunities to teach in private academies. It first started when my own teacher approached me and asked if I'd like to be a TA for the summer. During that summer they acknowledged my skills in teaching and gave me some classes teaching English and Math! From there I really found working with students so enjoyable and started offering my services as a tutor to others in my community.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Anything you feel you need, just ask! I know it is the hardest part to put yourself out there, and sometimes worry you are asking the wrong questions, but I can tell you as a tutor I have never come across a "dumb" question. It's actually great as a tutor to get questions because it helps us understand you more and we can work together as a team to learn!
