About
The English language can both limit and free an individual. Forcing unnatural structures can force you to think inside the box as much as you want to think outside the box. Using certain language can change your mindset subconsciously. I want to work to eliminate the box altogether, place education and creativity on the same pedestol, and change the way language is used for a more effective effect. Many define English but in truth allow English to define them. Break the barriers, understand rather than memorize.
I have worked primarily with ESL students but have recently been tutoring those in upper level English with great results. I have studied under various people that have taught me how to accomodate certain learning barriers. Every word is unique to the writer thus every writer should be treated as unique.
In it's entirety, teaching is enjoyable in the sense that it is passing on knowledge that you have accumulated to someone who will be able to put it to use or even pass it on to someone else. However, the relationships that are formed are essential because if the teacher and the student are incompatible, it can be difficult to break barriers so it's important not to force one to ensure no begrudging attitudes are held therefore holding back the student. When a relationship is built, it is gratifying because it builds a bridge that allows learning to be embraced.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically, the beginning of the new lesson will be to build a relationship. The second half, however, will consist of the gauging of the complexity and understanding of the subject through the answering of certain questions either in writing or verbally.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Being skilled in three languages, I understand the hardships that come with learning a new language, a new sentence structure, and struggle differentiating between local dialects and the formal language. To combat this, I want to immerse the student in the language including simply reading a magazine to understanding the lyrics of songs.
I was also trained to be able to research and grow my knowledge on my own and express myself in what is often considered "nontraditional." From the structuring of sentences to the structuring of essays, learning to think in ways that subconsciously put you in a box can be achieved.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I prefer to refrain from a standard pricing system because each student is different. Prices depend on the needs of the student but are definitely negotiable to accomodate for the financial situation of every individual.
