About

I have always had a passion for working with students and decided to pursue a degree in Special Education after previously working as a paraprofessional in a school for 3 years. I have worked with various ages (3-15), various disabilities, and multiple curriculum subjects. My degrees include A.A. in Communication Studies, B.A., in Special Education K-12, and 2 teaching credentials in Special Education and Multiple Subjects K-6. While working with students in a large school setting has been a great fulfillment I have learned that working with them on an individual level is truly my passion. I specialized in working with students on their reading and writing successes, and have years of experience teaching students mathematics core curriculum. I have been trained in programs such as Wilsons, SIPS, Read Naturally, Orton Gillingham, Think Central, Common Core, and have created incredible project-based learning experiences to support the ability of all students. Many of the students I have worked with have increased their reading, writing, and math levels significantly. I love to include techniques to support individual interests and learning styles. Students love to work with me because I make it fun for them and it brings me so much joy to see their love for learning grow. Finding out what peaks their interest gets them excited for their education journey. I find it so important to understand each student's social and emotional levels during their education process. Since I have become an educator, I have asked myself questions to grow my professional development such as; “What is the motivation for students' educational process?” While incorporating social-emotional aspects, students will learn that school can be exciting, fun, and they can be motivated. During the beginning of my sessions, I like to include a self-emotional check-in using Zones Of Regulation. Students will learn that they are capable to self advocating for their feelings and how to help guide their emotions for that specific learning moment. Students will be able to connect their feelings with education and learn to regulate why they may have struggled in the past. Together we can find what makes your child special and use that to embrace them.
