Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to see where the student is. I will give them a few sample problems and see what needs to be strengthend based on the material they are learning and what they need to brush up on in the past.
As far as meetups go, I like to go to coffee shops or libraries. Please let me know in advance what time works best for you so I can arrange it. Payments must be made in advance via venmo, and refunds will only be sent out if I personally cannot make the session the same day.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently a learning assisstant for Chemistry at Cal State San Marcos. I am a Biochemistry major and have been attenting CSUSM for 3 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My sessions run for 1-3 hours so I am asking $20 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started by working with my collegaues and found it was something I enjoyed doing. I then went to see if I could qualify to become a learning assisstant for my university and now I am employed as a learning assisstant. I really enjoy working with others and hope to spread my knowledge with those I work with.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who typically are confused on a certain area of their work which revents them from learning the next step. I have also worked with those who just need a little bit of refreshers to get the right idea. And I have also worked with those who don't know where to get started at all.
