I began learning ASL as a student at California State University, Northridge in 2015 with the goal of becoming an ASL/ English interpreter. After two years I was accepted into their program where I began interpreter education and training while continuing my regular course work. During my time in the program, I was also paired with an interpreting student in a lower cohort as a mentor. During this time we scheduled days to meet up and discuss her interpreting work along with other factors that can play a role such as nerves or confidence.
