About me:
Hi! I’m Evie! I’m an 18-year-old student in my first year at Las Positas College.
I am offering tutoring, childcare, assistance with special needs, and company for seniors. I’m very flexible with needs and prices.
I have over 13 years of classical training in piano performance, music theory, and composition. Music has always been a huge part of my life, and I love using it as a creative outlet. I enjoy writing my own music, stories, and poetry (especially with a friend).
I am also diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and OCD. Growing up with these unique experiences was very challenging, with expectations of “fitting in”, societal norms and social cues. I struggled with even the simplest of everyday chores, motivation, and a daily routine was hardly manageable. I’ve always been more drawn towards making friendships with adults, younger kids, and neurodivergent people my age. It used to bother me a lot that I didn’t have a whole lot of friends, or people who made me feel included as one. It hasn’t always been easy, and I’ll admit I’m still working on fully embracing myself, but I’ve come a long way and I’m excited to continue growing.
I’d love to have the opportunity to be a role-model, creative mentor, or friend to someone you love; whether it’s helping with homework, encouraging a child’s artistic side, or just keeping someone you love company.
Note: I cannot drive. I will use public transportation to commute to places if necessary.
Piano Tutoring:
Beginners: Basic finger exercises, introduction to notes, and simple songs.
Intermediate: Focus on technique, sight-reading, and music theory.
Advanced: Composition, technique and performance preparation.
Note: I can teach piano for 30 minutes to an hour weekly or bi-weekly. I’d prefer to teach at home, but I can commute to other areas in Livermore. I have a grand Baldwin piano and several books for music and sight reading. Please specify if you provide your own materials for lessons (like sheet music or books). I’ll go over the lesson plan every week with students and/or parents using a musical lesson planner. For younger learners, I have stickers and a prize box for a reward system!
For Childcare:
Homework and Studying: I am a strong English student, and I can help with grammar, reading, and essay-writing. I can also help with math (Geometry or Algebra 1 is probably my limit) and science. I can read through textbooks and novels if necessary. I also have several ways to make learning and homework fun, with songs, games or activities!
Playtime and Engagement: I am a very creative person, and I am quite the expert in finding ways to keep your child engaged (without screens). I can prepare a few games or activities in advance and have you approve before I bring them. If your child has special interests or hobbies, I’d love to chat and learn with them (Bonus if your child is a Harry Potter nerd). If you have an older child (middle school-teen), I’d love to be someone close to their age they could look up to, or see as an older friend.
Special Needs Help:
If your child or loved one is neurodivergent, has a learning disability, or has special needs to attend to, I’m your gal! I can relate to just about anyone who has felt left out or secluded from other people their age. I’d love to bond over shared experiences, help with homework, share a hobby, or just hang out!
Senior Companionship:
I love engaging in thoughtful conversation, and I’m open to discuss just about anything. I can provide music, games, and activities. I can help with mobility, go on walks together, play cards, board games (I do love myself some bingo), and anything else that keeps us busy!
After the first lesson, I’ll be charging 30-60 dollars an hour (prices are negotiable) if you think I’m a good fit for you.
