About

I have over 19 years tutoring experience tutoring all levels of math, physics, and, chemistry.

It's my goal to teach people how to think and how to see math in a different way. My methods are unique to each student, utilising their different talents to understand the subjects

My availability is usually after my work day (I am a high school teacher) 345 pm. Weekends I’m available any time Saturday and after 1pm on Sunday.

I do online tutoring as well which can be a bit more schedule flexible.

I enjoy when my students understand the material and say it is easier than before I met them. I would love to work with you, feel free to send a message.

We had a great experience with Joe! He was good with our son Jordan and he learned a lot from Joe. He was always on time and Jordan was more comfortable with his assignments and tests because of these visits. We also noticed Jordans math grade improving 2 letter grades after his tutoring sessions with Joe. Thanks again!

Mr Potillor is extremely patient, on top of the material, and truly wants you to understand the material rather than memorise formulas. He was not my favourite teacher when I had him, but he goes the extra mile for all of his students. I reccomend him if you want to learn the material, and not just pass a test.

    Frequently asked questions

Each student is different so I can't say there is a typical process. I can say I try to get to know my students and customise a plan based upon feedback from the students and parents.

My studies were in physics (atomic, classical), and mathematics (pure, and complex analysis). I have been doing this for many years now with nearly 8 years of classroom experience along with 17 years of tutoring experience. I plan to study for my doctorate in Belarus ...I have masters in physics and maths.

Typically I charge anywhere between 25-75 per hour, but I can be flexible to some degree.

My pricing includes travel time, all prep work for sessions (worksheets, my own study time, etc), as well as being able to access me outside of my tutoring hours via email/phone/website

My rates depend often on the subject I'm tutoring

    $50-75/hour for upper division/grad/doctoral/organic chemistry

    $25-50/hour lower division/HS subjects

I happen to teach AP Physics I/II, and AP Calculus AB/BC presently, since I already make material for those classes, I charge the least for these subjects, since prep time for these is minimal.

I was a TA when I was student in HS for Algebra II, and from there I was also TA in college as well. I started tutoring when I was a junior in HS, and haven't stopped since then.

I have worked with all types of students ranging from autistic to very gifted students. I have taught at the middle school and college levels, and presently teach at the high school level grades 9-12. I am comfortable teaching anyone 11 or above...but I will make exceptions depending on details.

Be organised, and do not expect to just be given the answers, prepare for sessions just as much as I will or whoever you seek to hire will do for you.

My advice is to know what you are seeking. Are you seeking extra support, conceptual understanding, more practice?. From there it's organise and be specific. Know how do you want to be helped, are you a hands on learner or more of a hands off learner? Do you need things repeated or do you understand them the first time. That makes it easier for teachers to diagnose how to help your situations.
