School can get crazy, we know! And we’re here to help! Our tutors collaborate with teachers to provide personalized tutoring that meets each student’s specific needs in the context of each class. We believe the goal of tutoring is to develop independent learners for academic success. So whether we are reinforcing concepts, completing homework, providing ELD support, or preparing for AP exams, we are also practicing responsibility, organization, critical thinking and effective study habits with our students. No matter how crazy it gets, our tutors are here to support students every step of the way.
We are a team of smart, fun and hardworking educators who love what we do. Our goal is to give every student the opportunity for aha! moments because learning is better when epiphany hits and everything just makes sense. It’s those moments that foster confidence, spark wonder, celebrate hard work and make learning fun!
We are passionate about supporting what teachers are doing in the classroom and helping students achieve academic success. We do this by partnering with schools, teachers and parents to provide personalized tutoring that targets what each student needs.
Right on campus after school, we raise grades, improve study habits, build confidence and take our students to the next level of academic success.
We collaborate directly with teachers and track student progress closely. We also share student progress and recommendations with parents and teachers!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We follow the school’s curriculum and communicate with teachers to identify areas of needs for our students. We focus on these areas while pre-teaching or reviewing key concepts, strategies and skills covered in class. Our tutors keep students on task to complete their daily assignments and prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes. For ELL (English Language Learner) students, we also focus on phonics, grammar, vocabulary development, fluency, and reading comprehension strategies as needed. Through engaging review activities and different learning strategies, we help students turn the lights on when it comes to learning!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Lights On Learning tutors are a bright group of qualified and credentialed teachers, graduate students, college graduates and college students. Our tutors are familiar with school curriculum and ready to provide outstanding, personalized tutoring services for your child! Background checks are run for all our tutors.
