English Tutor
About
Hi! My name is Ashley and I am currently a Master of Arts in Teaching, Single Subject English, candidate at UCI. I am studying to become a high school teacher. I recently finished my M.Phil in Irish literature at Trinity College Dublin, where my dissertation was awarded honors. I graduated Magma cum laude from Pace University, where I studied English Langauge and Literature and was the receipent of three writing awards for literary criticism and rhetorical analysis pieces. I have experience helping several non-native English speakers with essays at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, including editing a MBA dissertation. I also took a writing pedagogy course during my undergrad where I assisted elementary aged students with reading and composition. Most recently, I guest lectured on grammar issues in writing at Essex County College. I have over ten years working with children of all ages and am really passionate about English. I believe that reading and writing are the most powerful tools a student can master and am excited to make a difference.
I love feeling like I am making a difference in a student's life. Reading and writing are essential skills for success in the world and it is imperative to master these skills.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to start by either reading an already completed piece or tasking with a impromptu writing assignment so I can have a general understanding of what the writing issues are and we can get started right away.
