Erica's STEM Tutoring
About
Hi! My name is Erica, and I am currently a medical student at Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. With my classes and learning being all remote from COVID19, I have had a lot more time on my hands and would love to share my passion of teaching with students who may not have the best education now due to remote learning.
I have a long history of teaching, most recently as a full-time tutor from 2019-2020 at AJ Tutoring, one of the largest tutoring companies in the California Bay Area. I tutored academic and AP level chemistry and biology, and also SAT, ACT, and SAT subject tests. Through that experience, I gained invaluable techniques that helped me become a better teacher. Prior to that, I was the Lead Chemistry Tutor for Residential Tutoring at UC Berkeley from 2015-2018 and led a team of tutors to provide high quality service to over 5000 students. I was also a Teacher Scholar for general chemistry lab in 2015.
Besides academics, I have teaching and coaching experience for table tennis (fun fact, I've been playing competitively since 2006!) and have coached students of all levels. I love all forms of mentorship and teaching and want to share the joys of learning to all students! Most importantly, I want to help students succeed and secure a strong academic foundation during this time.

I love when students get "light-bulb" moments and understand a concept. I want my students to get to that point, rather than just knowing surface-level facts to answer homework questions.
