Maddie's Tutoring Services
About
Hi! I'm Maddie, a high school sophomore based in the California Bay Area. I have been playing the cello for over seven years and have experience in performing and competing as both a solo player and as a member of my school's top string orchestra, as well as several competitive youth orchestras in the Bay Area. I have taken Honors Chemistry in school and am currently self studying for AP Chemistry. I also currently take AP Music Theory in school and often arrange music for me and my friends to play. Some other fun facts about me include: I am a member of my school's color guard and a co-president of a volunteer club dedicated to bringing music to those less fortunate. My favorite school subject is either English or Chemistry- ask me about either! I love teaching and talking to people and I would love to answer any questions you have!
I love talking to people, teaching people, collaborating with people, what have you. Tutoring is a great way to explore more about the subjects that I love, and a great way to pass on my passions to other people.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I take some time to get to know them first and break the ice before we start getting into anything. I will often give them a brief overview of what we will cover over the course of our tutoring and, after a trial lesson, follow up to see if any adjustments need to be made to my teaching style: e.g. more visual aids, less homework, faster pace, etc.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Usually $15-30 an hour depending on how much material they want to cover.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Talk to them first! Tutoring only works if tutor and student can bond as people beforehand.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is my leearning style (auditory, visual, kinesthetic, etc.)? How intense/fast do I want this course to go?
