Max's Math Tutoring
About
My number one goal is to help you understand math. I know that math can be challenging, and sometimes all it takes is some guidance and assistance to improve grades and performance. Seeing my students understand and improve gives me a lot of satisfaction and joy, and I have learned from my past experiences to create the best results for my students.
I really am happy when I can help my students because I know firsthand how overwhelming academic stress can be. Math is a very interesting subject, but sometimes teachers can make it very complicated and difficult to understand. I really enjoy making it understandable.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically provide a free entry lesson to make sure I can truly help my students, and then from there I try to establish a baseline for where specifically my students is struggling. I try to complement my students regular coursework with more in-depth explanations as well as with many additional problems. For students who want to work ahead, I try to create my own little custom curriculum to allow students to work at any pace they choose.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a math major at UCLA and plan on pursuing a graduate degree in math. I have tutored students of all levels in high school and college level math.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I generally charge 40-70$ per hour and the price is dependent on the number of hours per week my student needs (i.e. a lower rate for more hours).
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with high school students struggling in algebra and statistics as well as college students in advanced calculus courses who just wanted some extra guidance. I can help all skill levels in all of my subjects.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say it is very important that you and your teacher are a good fit, and you feel comfortable telling your teacher when you are not 100% understanding.
