About

Being able to provide a helpful service to people that could possibly help them succeed more in life is a passion I have. I have been teaching for about 2 years and have been tutoring and helping with Spanish unofficially for about 7 years. I did this all through out college. I am credentialled to teach Spanish in both the state of California and Nevada. I am also in the process of completing my CLAD endorsement so I can work with English learners.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always try to make a individual plan for each student. Learning any language can be a challenge so making sure I am meeting the needs of the student is crucial. I try to use the bare minimum of the English language and maintain using only the target language of Spanish. I will focus on helping improve your speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills and focus on the one wanting to more.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a high School Spanish teacher. I recieved a Spanish degree through the University of Nevada, Reno along with my teaching credential. I then have transfered over my credential to California. I have worked with non-Spanish speakers and Spanish speakers in order to improve their Spanish all around.
How did you get started teaching?
I am a native speaker so I would help friends and family with their speaking. I am a self taught writter and reader, but aquired the accurate knowledge to perfect my Spanish in college through the courses I took.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all people ranging from ages 10 and up. I have worked with students who spoke only Spanish and helped master the language and helped students who knew zero Spanish and helped build a foundation for them.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
When taking lessons from a tutor really give yourself into the process. Learning a langauge is different from your typical subject becuase you have to practice practice practice. In order to get better you have to want to do better and have to practice speaking and listening to someone and be willing to recieve help with all other skills.
