About
I have 23 years of teaching experience in grades 1-3. The majority of my career was spent teaching second grade, where I helped students acquire the skills needed to become proficient readers and develop their writing skills as well.
I loved working with young readers and seeing the growth they made throughout the school year. After teaching for 10 years, I decided to pursue a master’s degree in reading and literacy. This master’s program was an excellent experience for me as I learned new approaches to teaching reading. I was also exposed to research on the appropriate testing methods for reading and writing skills for elementary students.
When our family relocated to San Diego, I decided to spend more time with my children and did not return to the classroom. However, I do miss it and look forward to working with students who are in need of reading or writing intervention. My hope is to instill a love of reading while improving the confidence and skill levels of the children I work with through my tutoring services.
