A Simple Touch
About
Hello! I have over 10 years of teaching experience (after school, private tutoring, and overseas TOEFL). My previous students had skill ranges from beginning to advanced levels of Language Arts & Writing. After moving back to the states, I joined a cultural-based non-profit organization as an Event Director for 2 years, as well as an Event Director for a job-fair based company for another 2 years. These jobs required daily procurement of official letters, requests, and materials that needed to be distributed to City officials and the general public.
Depending on the needs of the student, a custom lesson is implemented. For example, if a student is weak in grammar, a diagnostic test is given to find the areas that need most work. Exercises through worksheets, conversations, and writing would be utilized to master these concepts.
The following is a short background of my education and experience:
B.A. in English Literature with focus in Asian American Literature
5 Years of overseas English teaching not limited to:
- Korea Center for Talented Youth - Bundang (1st - 12th Grades): Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar, Writing, TOEFL Prep
- KU Language Academy (3rd - 12th Grades): Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar, Writing, TOEFL Prep
- Chung Ang Elementary School Attached to Chung Ang University (6th Grade): Writing
- 3 Years of Language Arts, Math, & Writing for 4th-6th grade students: Intel Tutorial Services, Los Angeles, CA
As cliche as it may sound, I enjoy enlightening young minds. When I first started tutoring during high school, it was in order to save up money to buy a car. However, as I continued to teach, I realized that I enjoyed being there to help a student improve in their academic studies. That "light bulb" moment when a student finally understands is a great feeling to strive for.

How did you get started teaching?
My start came at a young age with 2 younger brothers at home. This later progressed to requests from church members who needed tutors for their children. I tutored throughout college and decided to take the plunge by moving overseas to teach English in Korea. My initial plan to teach for a maximum of 2 years, turned into 5 great years in Korea.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students have ranged from ESL students to native speakers from grades 1 to 12. I have taught conversation classes to adults as well.
