About
I strive to go beyond having students just memorize answers to questions and learn patterns of how to answer questions of specific formats on tests. A student should not only learn enough to pass a class, but also explore the topic on their own.
I enjoy seeing the "Aha!" moment in people, the moment where the dots get connected, the moment when people say, "Oh this is actually really easy" when they came in not knowing how to approach a problem, the moment when they reach an insight on something that made no sense, the moment where it all clicks.

needed, and is capable of adapting his teaching style to different situations. ... Show more

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We establish what the student knows, what the student needs to know, and how the student learns most effectively, and work from there. There is no one-size-fits-all model for teaching, so once I take on a new student, I take the time to think about how we can best achieve his/her goals within the parameters I am given.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In terms of education, I have completed the 4th year of the University of California, Santa Cruz, majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Mathematics, so I have intimate knowledge in these areas.
As for training, I have mostly learnt from my experience tutoring dormmates, roommates, and random acquaintances from university with their course-work. I was also a summer camp volunteer once upon a time, giving me experience working with kids, though not towards the goal of learning.
