Kyle's Math Tutoring
About
I help students excel in math, whether it be for test preparation, studying for standardized tests, or overall homework help.
I have always enjoyed helping others, and since math is a "unique" language, it can be difficult at times to understand what is being asked of you. I help students understand how the "textbook" language is connected to everyday experiences, and how to solve some complex problems with simple mathematical tricks.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I first try to get to know some of their interests and incorporate them into our sessions, so that way the student understands how math is used in everyday life.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mathematics from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, and I have been tutoring for over 10 years, both privately and in various companies.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing is mostly based on the class topic. For example, Pre-Algebra and Algebra are $25 per hour, Geometry and Algebra II are $30 per hour, and going up to Calculus is $45 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always enjoyed math as a student, and when I went off to university, I got the opportunity to help others in my classes, via study groups, to better understand the topics at hand.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide range of students, from understanding basic principles in math, to more advanced geometric topics, up to multivariable and differential equations, as well as preparing for standardized tests (SAT/PSAT/ACT).
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have enjoyed sports since I was a kid, and going to a hockey game a while back was a joy for me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask questions! The only way to get help is to ask for it. Also speak up if the way how the concept is being explained does not make sense to you. A good teacher is able to explain the topic in many different ways: analogies, pictures, using different words, etc.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is the reason you are looking for help: to better understand the topic, to get ahead in class, to prepare for exams. Knowing what you want first will make the process that much easier for everyone, rather than showing up and saying "I don't know."
