About
I strive to foster creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills through reading, writing, and public speaking. I focus on engaging students through fun, whimsical activities to encourage a natural affinity for story-telling-- a skill that will help them excel not only in academics but in life!
I have eight years of professional child care experience, ages 4 - 14. I began my career in child education in 2015 as one of the first curriculum developers for Nearpod, a Stanford Incubator project dedicated to creating interactive, virtual lessons for children of all ages. While I continue my virtual work at Nearpod, I missed the experience of seeing children learn firsthand! I started tutoring creative writing and reading comprehension in 2020, and I love it!
I meet with students 2-3 times a week. My curriculum is customized to each child's needs, skillset, and grade level to ensure they get the most out of every session. I also ask that parents reserve 15 minutes per week to meet with me for updates on performance and progress.
Students are expected to complete assigned homework by the next session. Homeworks include annotated readings, short essays, reading comprehension exercises, and creative writing prompts.
I'm fully vaccinated and ask that your family is as well!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to meet with parents and students for an initial consultation at a reduced rate to ensure we are a good fit. The consultation includes 30 minutes for parents to share which skills they want their child to focus on, relevant reading lists, and more. I then meet with the students individually for 60 minutes with a pre-planned session to gauge their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing skills. You are only billed for the 1 hour that I work with the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started my childcare experience in 2013 as a swim instructor for children aged 1-14. Because of my UI/UX background, I was approached by Nearpod, a Stanford Incubator project, to help develop virtual, interactive educational sessions for K-12, primarily focused on reading comprehension, essay writing, vocabulary, and literature. I've been working with the Nearpod team since 2015, creating a wide variety of lessons on different genres, books, and literature styles.
