About
I have extensive experience prepping students for standardized tests: ACT, SAT, ISEE, HSPT, and CHSPE, as well as all-levels math and science. I am a patient, encouraging, high-energy motivator who addresses individual needs and crafts tailored one-on-one plans.
The results speak for themselves!

I love influencing students to work hard, maximize their potential, and develop confidence. It's a beautiful gift to see students transform their grades and watch their confidence blossom.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I've been doing this a long time. I'll gather any and all helpful information about the student. I then discuss tutoring goals with both the parents and the student. Sometimes they have different goals! Then we'll come up with a tailored plan dependent on the students goals, challenges, and personality. Every one is different!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from the University of Miami with a 3.9 GPA, completing the pre-med track, majoring in Biology and Theatre Arts, and minoring in Chemistry and Psychology. I've been tutoring for a decade. I love learning and have a passion for teaching and inspiring others. I am a self-proclaimed nerd. I grew up reading textbooks for fun and began competing in and winning math competitions at age 10. I am continually taking classes and reading books to expand upon my knowledge and skill sets. My hobbies include reading, songwriting, singing, violin, piano, and dance.
I was inspired to create Avery Prep to serve our community. Children are the future. My goal is to educate, inspire, and empower.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes. Lessons cost between $100-150, depending on subject, duration, location, and number of lessons.
I like to work my family's needs. You don't have to spend thousands to reach your target score. I am able to set up systems that work within a family's budget, while still delivering the results needed. I'm happy to offer a free consultation to discuss options.
How did you get started teaching?
I have five siblings. It started there, with playing teacher-- it was my favorite game! Then in middle school I enrolled in a peer tutoring program and LOVED it. I've never stopped.
I take great joy in helping students. It's a gift of mine.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types! Perfect students wanting perfect SAT/ACT scores. Failing students. Ridiculously motivated students AND ridiculously UNmotivated students.
I am a people person. I am here to serve you. I adapt my teaching plans and styles to what will best serve each individual. No two students are alike!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently helped a young girl improve her ACT score by fourteen points. That's basically unheard of! And more important than the increase in score, is the increase in her self-esteem, her confidence, and her hope for her future.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure they are qualified. Be wary of companies that charge you a lot of money, and then pay relatively new tutors only $30-50 an hour. Private tutors might be more experienced and better qualified.
Get details on their experience. How many students in the subject? How fresh are they on the content? Get a sense of their integrity and make sure you are a good match.
Lastly: Communicate! Let tutors know how to best serve you. Speak up with concerns, ideas, likes, and dislikes.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
It's a dialogue! Pick up the phone or shoot an email out and get the conversation going. An experienced tutor will guide.
