About
cliche words aside, I like making things as efficient as possible. What I mean is, you know when you have a problem and you ask your teacher to explain it, but they spend 5 minutes too long explaining what you've already done, and you just want to bridge that tiny gap in your knowledge? I'm pretty good at spotting that and adjusting to your pace.
Exams wise, the way I got my grades was adapting my studies to the exam marking schemes and knowing how to maximise my marks. Making notes from a textbook isn't the way to go. I've done A-level further math and SAT math subject tests, so if you need help with those that can also be done :)
Math should be fun and not just the memorisation & application of formulas. So what I enjoy is when people start to see it in a different way, and actually find their favourite way of doing something out of the many possible methods out there.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Just crack on with a practice problem. See how they visualise the steps, and what part of the method is bothering them. Better to not waste their time. When a student actually learns something, then they tend to feel a lot more comfortable with the teacher/tutor.
I'm more of a friend than teacher ahaha so as we cover some ground, the lessons become quite chill
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
No official tutoring/teaching certifications
Just a high school student with A levels in further maths and maths, (both two-year courses completed in 1 year)
A*A*A*A prediction. Already have 1 A*, well see how the rest do in august.
SAT subject tests (math II [770] & physics [720]) Perfect math SAT score (all studied for in 2 weeks)
Basically, im flexing that i'm good at adapting to an exam, quickly, instead of memorising my textbook for one.
UC Berkeley for engineering maths and stats
Imperial College London for Material science engineering
UCL for architectural engineering
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I'm only looking for some honest work over my summer, I'm not a certified teacher so I will not go over $25 an hour
However, price is variable, obviously the harder the content, the greater the fee
An hourly fee is easiest to calculate, but it doesn't mean that just because the hour is over I will end the lesson right then and there.
How did you get started teaching?
Just the classmate that everyone sort of leaned on when the teacher was making the methods too complex/inefficient/ambiguous.
Then I moved on to reddit and a few other forums, actively replying to questions on subreddits such as /learnmath or /math or /sixthform
What types of students have you worked with?
I've covered a few lessons for my teachers for 13-year-olds, but I really sort of perform better with 15-19 year olds, because those kinds of problems usually take more than 1 or 2 steps to solve
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Honestly find someone who doesn't waste your time. If you're not getting the answer to a question that was bugging you, qualified or not, you're not learning in the way which you'd most benefit.
