I tried other chemistry tutors, but none of them compare to Justin. I felt like I wasnt worthy with other tutors, but with Justin, I was comfortable and theres no better feeling than that. He was patient and taught me step-by-step, and getting an A on my final got me to realize that I can throw down with the best if I just put in the effort

    Frequently asked questions

First, I assess the student to see where they are at in terms of knowledge and skills. This allows me to come up with a thoughtful and personalized lesson plan that addresses the student's exact needs. I try to employ techniques and strategies that make learning any subject fun and relevant to the student.

As a graduate student, I've taken numerous classes and have taught many people in the fields that I teach.

I have also worked at several tutoring centers that require a 95% passing rate on all of the subject exams that I teach.

    My rates are as follows:

    • $25/hr for Online Skype lessons (first hour free)

    • $30/hr per person for in-person group lessons

    • $35/hr for in-person 1-on-1 lessons

My goal is to make tutoring affordable! Popular college prep courses and tutoring centers ask for anywhere between $70 to $200/hr, which may total up to thousands of dollars. While some services may prove to be helpful, many of them are cookie-cutter programs that are minimally personalized. My goal is to instill independent-learning skills right away so that together we can close the achievement gaps and students can learn what they need as fast as possible.

It wasn't until college that I saw how beneficial tutoring was. My school offered peer tutoring for the Chemistry series, which undoubtedly helped me perform very well in the class. Though I was grateful for the program, I didn't think to become a tutor myself until my great friend Alex recommended me to apply. During my third year, I became a peer tutor and it was easily one of the best experiences of my undergrad. Not only was I able to learn about teaching and about myself, but I was also able to help hundreds of students in a field that I loved.

I've worked with students of all grade levels (K-12) as well as college students.

Make sure that the tutor you are looking to hire is not just experienced, but also genuine and compassionate. These qualities show that the tutor really cares about your success as a student and as an individual.

Students should come prepared with numerous questions about the subject matter and skills they want to improve on at every lesson.

Students should also expect that the tutor is not meant to lecture like a teacher. Instead, a tutor and a student should work collaboratively with each other to meet the student's needs.
