Hello! My name is Matthew, and I graduated from the University of California, Irvine (UCI) in 2017, with a Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with Honors.
I earned an A / A+ in Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Biochemistry, Nanomedicine, Microbiology, Physiology, and Medicinal Chemistry.
My philosophy is every person is capable of achieving an A. My goal is for you to walk into each exam feeling confident in your preparation.
My students' success becomes my success. I am fortunate to have mentors who've guided me along the right path.
It is easy to compare our failures and successes to others, and feel we're "too behind" to salvage a poor exam grade. I've been there.
My experience overcoming lower science grades as a sophomore, and earning straight A's as a junior and senior motivates my students to work harder.
Was such a great tutor! Very patient and kind and always made sure that I understood a concept before moving on to the next one. Also very funny, which added to his great personality made a very great learning environment. I definitely recommend this tutor.
Matt focuses on teaching beyond the classroom concepts. He’s not just a tutor - he’s a coach. He went out of his way to check in on my mindset and help with strategic planning for exams. Would highly recommmend!
As a pre-medical student at UCI, I was a Mentor for freshman international students. Faced with signifcant language barriers, I ensured their smooth transition into university.
Later, I was a Karate Teacher for children (ages 3-18) with special needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Cerebral Palsy and Down syndrome. I had the privilege to work with students who've achieved their Black belts.
Lastly, I mentored high school students across multiple Title I High Schools in Orange County. With a team of 20, we empowered 160 underserved students to pursue college. 5 students I've worked with, personally, earned acceptances to top universities.
Serving as a role model to my students is a blessing. Great teaching, I've found, is never a one-way street. The tutor and tutee grow together.
Between 2018-2019, I've worked with Non-traditional students finishing pre-requisite courses for graduate applications, pre-health college students, students with learning disabilities, and students who've failed their course and need help during their re-take.
Find a tutor that will build genuine trust with you. You could learn from a world-reknown Biologist, but if the tutor doesn't make effort to connect with their student, teaching material and learning it will be difficult.
