Fabiana DiLorenzo is a professionally trained, talented, and sensitive linguist. She is always well prepared and organized, and she pulls interesting teaching materials from a variety of interesting sources. She focuses on the needs of the student. In my case, she provides me with unexpected topics and ensures that I work on speaking Italian spontaneously. She possesses a knack for correcting students without upsetting their flow. And shes just nice and fun to converse with, to boot.

    Frequently asked questions

For teens and adults, I usually begin with a relaxed conversation about your background, current level, interests, and goals. If you’ve studied Italian before, I may also suggest a simple level check. From there, I create lessons that match your needs and learning style. For younger learners, I use a more visual and interactive approach with games, songs, stories, and engaging activities to help them learn naturally and confidently. For younger students (TK, K, and elementary) I use a minimal language technique, instead keeping it more visual through flashcards and images. I guide my little students to play games, watch and comment cartoons, sing songs, and, eventually, read short stories in Italian. They LOVE it!
I am a fully qualified native Italian teacher with +23 years of teaching experience in both Italy and the U.S. My background includes a degree in foreign languages and teaching, additional teaching certifications, and two Master’s degrees focused on language teaching methods and student learning support. I also hold a Master’s degree in Special Educational Needs for middle and high school students, which has strengthened my ability to create clear, supportive, and well-structured lessons for students with different learning styles and educational needs. I regularly continue my professional development to stay current with effective language-learning strategies.
My rate reflects my experience, qualifications, and the personalized nature of my lessons. I focus on helping students learn efficiently and confidently, so each lesson is designed to maximize progress, comprehension, and retention.
I was inspired to become a language teacher by one of my own teachers in high school, who made learning engaging, creative, and memorable. That experience shaped the way I teach today: I believe students learn best when they feel supported, interested, and actively involved in the lesson.
I have worked with children, teens, college students, adults, travelers, and heritage learners in both Italy and the United States. I adapt each lesson to the student’s age, level, learning style, and goals, using a variety of tools and resources to make online learning effective and engaging.
One project I especially enjoyed was an online Italian cooking activity, where students described ingredients, wrote their own recipe, and practiced new vocabulary through a fun cooking challenge. It was a great way to combine language, culture, and creativity.
Look for a teacher who can adapt the lessons to your goals, pace, and learning style — not just someone who knows the language. A good online language teacher should be able to keep you engaged, explain clearly, and help you build confidence step by step.
Before choosing a teacher, it helps to ask: How much experience do they have teaching online? Do they adapt lessons to different ages and learning styles? What tools and resources do they use? How do they keep students engaged and progressing over time? What digital tools and resources do you use to plan lessons? How do you keep students engaged in an online environment? Do you hold any special certifications? How do you ensure effective communication online?
