Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I allow the student to explain to me where they feel as though they currently are with understanding the material. I then ask them if they'd like to go over a recent homework assignment or test that they didn't understand. From there I can diagnose where the student misunderstands the material and we can rebuild their knowledge from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two bachelor's degrees from the University of Arizona: a Bachelor's of Science in Neuroscience and. Bachelor's of Arts in Political Science. My Neuroscience degree gave me a great background in chemistry, biology, and calculus as these disciplines are used heavily in neuroscience. My Political Science degree gave me a great background in US history and government as my emphasis was in American Politics. Furthermore, while a student at the U of A I held several tutoring jobs over three years where I tutored Biology, Chemistry, Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Spanish, and Government.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, all of my lessons are piced at $45 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching during my undergraduate education when I was asked to help assist with one of my Chemistry Professors Lectures as a learning assistant. From there I branched out into other tutoring positions at the University of Arizona tutoring for both the Molecular and Cellular Biology Department as well as the Athletics Department
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a range of students, the youngest being middle school students and the oldest being college students.
