Koch Science Tutoring
About
As a science educator I am passionate about teaching the newest generation about the intricacies of our modern world from a scientific perspective. I have a degree in science education and worked for two years as a high school science teacher in Tucson, Arizona. I have also worked as a chemistry lab coordinator for the General Chemistry labs at the University of Arizona. I have have taught students at every level, from middle school, through college, and believe that my unique combination of experiences will be a major asset to any student seeking extra help and support for any science topic.
I firmly believe that Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics subjects are some of the most improbably topics to understand in today’s society. A good understanding of science is integral to almost every career field, and I truly enjoy teaching about science to bright young minds. I personally find each and every scientific topic to be interesting, and I teach because I want to share my enthusiasm for science with new generations of students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically when I work with a new student I like to speak with them to evaluate their goals, their strengths, and their weaknesses. Based on their individual evaluation I will tailor a specific plan to help them reach their goals. My philosophy is that practice, and determination, as well as some direction, can help any student learn even the most difficult of topics.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a science educator, and a public health graduate student. I have a bachelors degree in science education and have two years of experience teaching high school science. I have taken coursework in biology, physics, chemistry, algebra, and statistics, and feel confident o can share my expertise with any student who needs help.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing will depend on the needs of the student, and the amount of time required to meet their goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should come with an idea of what goals they would like to reach, and should know what they want they want out of a tutor, whether it is homework help, extra practice, or just someone who can explain a difficult topic differently. The more a student asks, the more they will get out of tutoring.
