Language Tutoring
About
I have been in the teaching profession for 23 years and have worked in the Valley of the Sun during that time. I am now retired and looking for students that I can continue to assist with their reading and writing education. I have a master's degree in English Education and Gifted Students. A majority of my educational years were spent in 6th to 8th grade. I would love the opportunity to assist more students to achieve their goals.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first like to get to know my students. I focus my reading and writing assignments on their preferences, likes, and dislikes. It is imperative to make a connection before I start working with each student. Each student is an individual and will receive a curriculum that is tailored to that individual student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a Language Arts and Gifted teacher for 23 years. I am recently retired but would love to continue working with students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $40.00 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I started as a 4th-grade teacher in Boston, MA. When I moved to the Phoenix area, I went into the business world for a few years but returned to teaching because it was my first love. I have 23 years of experience in my fields.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love helping a student and watching them reach their goals. I recently helped a past student write her college essay. I was so thrilled that she sought me out to be her helper and was so pleased when she was accepted into the college of her choice.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise anyone to look for a teacher that will create a curriculum that is geared to the likes and dislikes of the individual student. Content can be adjusted to the student so that the interest in the subject matter is relatable.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
ASk the teacher:
What is your area of expertise?
How do you approach my needs?
How will you adjust my curriculum to meet my needs?
What is your expectation?
