About
I offer premium tutoring services at an affordable cost. In addition to over 25,000 student-hours of tutoring experience in all levels of mathematics, science, and Latin, I have also been a secondary school teacher for 15 years in the same subjects. (Having taught history and literature, I can generally help with these also.) I have a B.S. in materials science, a M.S. in materials science, and a M.S. in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the latter two under a fellowship from the National Science Foundation. I also spent 3 years studying Greek and Latin classics at U of A. After years of working for someone else, I finally started my own business in 2015. My company website is integralaz.com. I feel that I have a strong ability to express difficult concepts and subject matter in ways that a high school, middle school, or adult student can grasp.
I particularly enjoy watch a students suddenly understand something that they were struggling with. It is also always exciting to hear back from students about their successes on the SAT or ACT. It brings me great satisfaction to see them getting into the universities of their choice.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I offer a free trial session to all new clients. I try to match all of my tutoring to their particular requirements, but most students are looking for conceptual explanations, help with homework, and test preparation (either academic or SAT/ACT).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received a B.S. in Materials Science and a M.S. in both Materials Science and Electrical Engineering. I have 16 years of teaching and over 25,000 student-hours of tutoring experience. I have taught all high school math and science courses, as well as a number of history, Latin, and literature courses.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard fixed time tutoring is $50 for each one-hour session. Drop-ins, which allow you to come at a time of your choosing each week or only when needed, are priced at $60 per one-hour session in a package of 8.
How did you get started teaching?
I left engineering and returned to the university to study Greek and Latin classics. Gradually, I came to see teaching as my vocation.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types, from all types of schools. However, I only teach 5th grade and up, including high school and college.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Birth of my children.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try them out before committing to anything. Don't be sold by mere talk or professional advertizing.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students need to reflect upon where they think the difficulties are coming from. They also need to have a clear idea of their own goals, because different students have different expectations that teachers cannot always be aware of.
