About

Having tutored 2nd grade through college, I have a holistic approach and an understanding of the importance of the material not only as it stands for any given grade level, but also as it continues and is built upon throughout a student's academic journey. I meet my students where their comfort level is, and we gradually work to challenge them in a way that promotes an enjoyment of learning without ever being overly intimidating.

I really enjoy helping students understand concepts and feel confident in areas they may have once struggled in. I also appreciate the variety! On any given day, I can be working with 3-4 different grade levels in any number of different subjects and content areas, which keeps the work interesting.

    Frequently asked questions

I like to introduce myself not only to parents but to the student as well, giving them a little bit of my background and how I may be able to help them in their areas of need. I usually follow by asking a couple of questions about them and navigating that conversation in order to discern how I can best assist them in their academics.

I'm experienced tutoring general education 2nd-9th grade, as well as English and writing through high school. I graduated from Barrett, The Honors College at ASU in May, and I am now pursuing my K-8 certification through Rio Salado. I am also IVP fingerprint certified as an instructor through the state of Arizona.

Depending on the number of students, specialization of material, and travel time, my pricing generally starts at $25 an hour and increases as is necessary given the needs of the student. I do my best to be flexible and find a price point where families feel they are getting excellent value for their money!

My first "student" was my little sister! I helped her with her math homework, and around that time I was also tutoring my peers periodically in areas within which I could be of help. From there, I began seeking outside clients, and I've had a wonderful experience expanding my work to this point through advertising on websites and word of mouth.

I've worked with students 2nd-9th grade in a general education capacity, and I've reviewed essays for classmates through the end of their bachelor's degree programs at the university level.

Find the fit that's right for you! Of course, it's critically important that your teacher knows the material well, but they also need to be a good match for your learning style. Talk to them about how they can best help you, and see how the first couple of lessons go. If you're comfortable and benefitting from the experience, perfect! If not, there's no shame in moving on and trying someone else.
