About

I am a master tutor specializing in the Language Arts, which includes reading and reading comprehension; grammar; vocabulary building; literature and the English genre, and writing – both creative and academic. I have more than ten years of experience empowering students to reach their full potential. I work with students of all ages, backgrounds, interests, and abilities in either small group settings, or one-on-one. A firm believer in making learning more fun, I excel in creating customized learning plans that are original, evocative, and engaging. Everything I utilize – from my curriculum and supporting materials to my teaching strategies – are centered around each individual student’s unique learning style and preference. I excel in meeting students wherever they are in their respective learning journeys!

My goal is to inspire students with my approach, perspective, and personality. Above all, it’s to create lifelong learners who are passionate, and curious; committed, confident, and driven.

    Frequently asked questions

I do a fairly lengthy informational interview on each student's strengths, weaknesses, and learning style and preferences. From there, I tailor all instruction to fit those specific needs.
I'm an Ivy League graduate with ten+ years of professional experience with teaching, both in institutions and privately, to students
I started out teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) while still in high-school. From there, and post college, I began teaching the SAT, and ACT, and eventually, most academic subjects including organization, prioritization, and test taking skills.
I work with students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. I excel in identifying where my students are in their learning journeys, and working with them at their level. That is, I help my students determine what their ideal "success" looks like, and then we partner together to achieve that.
I'm fond of far too many things, but mostly books: almost any and all books. Reading for two hours every morning, rain or shine.
Be honest, and upfront about your abilities, and what, specifically, you are trying to achieve. Also be forthright about how much effort, time, and attention you can give to the task at hand.
I think it helps students to be able to identify and articulate what, specifically, they may struggle with. And, what specifically they believe they need in order to succeed!
